I want to purge the database, that is except last three months' records i want to delete all others.

I want to know the steps that are to be follwed to do a standard purging., Like backing up the data that are going to be purged, and then deleting the old records.

Is time constraint a must for all tables to be purged, or is there any other way to find the time of the creation of a particular record in a table???

Where can i get these details., ??

Thank u.,
Deepak.C

Unless you've got auditing turned on, then the only way you'll find when a record was created is if you've recorded it on that row.

The Oracle Administrator Guide has quite a bit about this topic.
