Hi I'm having trouble installing the 9i application server 9.0.3). I really only want to use it for learning portal.
I'm at the stage in the installation where it's asking for single sign on information, but my combination of host/domain/port isn't working. Then I see that I must have an existing infrastructure to do it, and that the infrastructure doesn't appear to be part of the install at all. My DBA at work told me that infrastructure would install was part of the app server. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. If infrastructure isn't part of 9.0.3, will I still be able to use portal? My DBA said u can't use portal without infrastructure.
(I have moved the DB from port 1521 to 1526 with no result)

Any help appreciated
thanks
adam

As far as I remember you need to use 9.0.2's infrastructure (a separate set of CD's) with 9.0.3.

Anyway, for learning purposes, I would recommend you get a more recent version of the software.

My Dear Friend,

First of all u would have to install infrastructure for 9i Rel. 2.0. then when u will install MiddileTier (application Server) then it asks for host name and port number.

host name will be computer name where infrastructure is running and up. and port no. will be 389 (If using 9i Rel. 2. and if using 10g then port no. will be 3060)

do it nicely take care say thanx to me at zesh76@msn.com

Listen,

How is installation?????

For 9i Rel 1 There was no infrastructure Just install iAS 9i and upload the forms developed and compiled by Oracle Developer 6i. Upto iAS 9i Rel 2 Oracle has added that u will have to install Infrastructure which creates database for Oracle Internet Directory and other informations. and Oracle recommends that v should install infrastructure on different server (Just Infrastructure Server) then install middle tier and give the hostname or IP and port number of OID 389 ( 9i Rel 2 and 3060 for 10g). Ok now hope u will go in the right way. bye
