Hello everyone,

I have been having problems running connecting to oracle database on my home PC. I have installed Oracle 9i and all the programs seem to be working fine but I cannot connect/create a database...or I just don't know how.

When opening SQL Plus I am asked for a username and password, which was never set. I have been all over google trying to figure out how to log into and create the initial database.

Any help you provide will be greatly appreciated.

Ph yeah I am getting ora-12154 and I believe ora-12554

As the "oracle" user account, see if you can do this:

sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
