My problem is that to open a particular cursor from a pro*cobol programme it is taking a lot of time(> 24 hrs). The same sql statement when run from a sql prompt takes less than 2hrs.

The particular sql has 4 table joins and the largest table to be scanned has around 130 Million rows.

I am using Oracle 8.1.7 on HP Unix 11.

Can any one suggest what could be the problem ?
