For version one of 9ias the install requires the installation of v8.1.7.db.
Once I install the db and 9ias, they are on the same machine, this is fine(i only have one machine). At this point, can I still deploy web applications using the v8.1.7DB? Or, do I need to connect to another db on another machine? And if I do need another db, can I install that db on the same machine.
I hope this is clear, and thanks
Mark

You do not need connect to another DB, the 817db will be ok for you 9iAS.
Do I need any thing else other than the CD pack i got from Oracle [message #76439 is a reply to message #76428] Mon, 01 July 2002 20:16 Go to previous messageGo to next message

I hv been trying to install Oracle 9iAS with little success. I tried with 9i DB and 9iAS on same machine, with 8i (8.1.7.0) DB on one machine and 9iAS (ver 1.0.2.2.1) on another machine. In the first case, 9iAS installation did not complete successfully. In the second case, installation was successful but when I click on Mod_plsql configuration menu, I get the following error (other links on the page are working)

" Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

1. is there any paper which will give me a step by step instruction on how to install 9iAS
2. which is the best combination - 9iAS n 8iDB on same machine or 9iAS on one machine and 8i DB on another.
3. Do I hv to install any patch?
Thanks in anticipation
