Hi,

Read the "Tuning PL/SQL Applications" chapter in the PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference Guide.

Also, consider upgrading to 10g. Oracle 10g introduces an optimizing PL/SQL code generator. Apparently PL/SQL programs run about 2x faster in 10g as they did in 9i, and about 3x as fast as they did in 8i.

So why didn't you say so in the first place?

The only PL/SQL Tuning book I know about is:
