First let me say, I am not an Oracle DBA, I am a Systems Administrator. I am having an argument with our Oracle DBA about permissions and such on our NT and Unix Servers. His statements are that he MUST HAVE root privileges on the servers to properly admin the Oracle DB's. I don't think so, so I am comming to you folks for the answers. What permissions to Oracle DBA's need on NT and/or Unix to do their jobs?
